A Public party is not always the way to go to meet your new neighbors
or get reaquainted with old ones, but that is just the case today.
Several ladies got together and planned a block party. These
sometimes can be fun but mostly about ten minuts is plenty. Don’t
get me wrong, it’s not the people. The one thing about potlucks is
that everyone stops by the store and brings whatever looks good
at the time. I’m going to surprise everyone and actully make Tamale Pie.

We’ll need:

2 1/4 cups cold water

3/4 cup yellow cornmeal

1 Tbsp butter

1 pound ground beef

1 cup chopped onion

1 cup chopped green pepper

1 clove minched garlic

1 15oz can of tomato sause

1 12oz can whole kernal corn, drained

2 – 3 tsp of chili powder

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Combine water and cornmeal in a saucepan, bring to a boil then reduce
heat to simmer. Add butter, and cook over low heat for 10 minutes
stirring often.
Remove from heat.

In a skillet add ground beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic. Brown well,
then drain.  Stir in tomato sauce, corn, and chili powder. Bring to boil,
reduce heat, simmer for 25 minutes or until thickened, stirring often.

Grease a 2 quart casserole and add about 3/4 of the cornmeal mixture on
bottum and half way up sides. Spoon in beef mixture and top with remaining
cornmeal.

Bake for 30 mintues at 350 degrees. Top with cheese and bake an
additional 5 minutes.

Well now that the decision is made, might as well get busy.

More later . . .
