Grilled fruit for ice cream, This is so easy and good it will soon become a
favorite for your ice cream. It only takes a few minutes and everyone is
always asking “how did you do that?” Here it is.
BANANAS
Do not peel the banana and do not turn over while grilling. Slice one whole
banana along the length. Sprinkle lightly with brown sugar and drizzle with
maple syrup (yes, the same you use for breakfast). Place on a hot grill for
3 to 5 minutes, just until the skin begins to pull away from the fruit. Remove
from grill.
You can now make slices or cut each half in two equal pieces. Place in
ice cream bowl and top with your favorite ice cream. Feel free to add your
favorite topping, but the grilled banana alone is enough to make this a
special treat.
PINEAPPLE
Using fresh or canned sliced pineapple, place on a hot grill and sprinkle
with cinnamon, sometimes I use cinnamon sugar. The grill needs to be a
little hotter for this than for the bananas to avoid the fruit from drying out.
After a few minutes turn over and sprinkle with cinnamon again. This is the
one you want grill marks on. Place in ice cream bowl and scoop ice cream
on top. Again, add toppings if desired.
Well, that’ s it for now . . . more later.
