When your kids come home from a hard summers day of playing
outside, one of the first things they ask is “what’s there to
eat?” You go to the fridge, take a look at what’s in it and
realize you need to head to you local grocery store.
What a bummer.
As with my first article (The well stocked pantry) you
can minamize your trips to the store by keeping a few
items stocked in the refrigerator at all times.
However the frig is probably the hardest to keep stocked.
Here are few things you should always have on hand:
I also never run out of bottled lemon juice. I find it adds
flavor to so many dishes.
It is best to buy fresh fruit and vegitables as they are needed,
even if it means passing up a sale. Otherwise if not used
quickly you end up throwing them away and wasting your
money.
Well, have to go for now. We’re having kabobs on the grill
today. The meat has been marinating for about 15 hours
and have to go turn it again.
Next time we’ll do the freezer and then the spice rack –
or maybe the other way around.
More later . . .
